No Protester Was Forced To Go Through Crime Scene Reconstruction- Police

The police have denied allegations that they coerced accused persons in the Democracy Hub protest to go through the Crime scene reconstruction as part of an investigation.

In a press statement dated October 7, the Ghana Police Service said though Crime scene reconstruction is a standard practice used by law enforcement agencies worldwide, it is done in full compliance with established procedures.

It noted that the accused persons were duly informed of their right to have legal representation before the crime scene reconstruction process.

“Some of the accused persons opted to take part in the crime scene reconstruction process without their lawyers’ presence. Other accused persons, however, insisted on their right to their lawyers and the reconstruction process for these persons is yet to be done.”

Additionally, it said the procedure was conducted by police detectives who were part of the officers who have been working on the investigation since the inception of this case.

This is in reaction to a statement by the lawyers of the accused persons to the effect that detectives who conducted the procedure are unknown to the accused persons and claim that the accused persons were coerced to take part in the crime scene reconstruction.
