Nkawie and Abuakwa Community Champions

Nkawie and Abuakwa communities have spewed out young reading champions for the Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge Community Stage (OCRC) for the 2022 edition.

Maame Asarewaa Adu Gyamfi will be representing the Nkawie community while Henry Dwight Yorke will be representing the Abuakwa community.

Both are fourteen (14) years old.

Maame Asarewaa, from the Nkawie M/A Experimental B, emerged winner among 34 contestants from twelve schools. Henry, a student from the Abuakwa JHS D emerged as the community champion from among twenty schools that part took in the challenge on Wednesday.

The two received a cash prize of GHC500 each from Konahene Nana Konadu Yiadom Kumanin IV as part of his GHC30,000 cash prize to community Champions.

Additionally, Nkawie M/A Experimental B and Abuakwa JHS D, the schools of the champions received GHc 500 each from Tredehene Nana Nuben Sra III as part of his GHc30,000 cash prize to schools of the community champions.

The Community champions and other contestants from both Nkawie and Abuakwa received hampers from Cowbell, sponsor of the competition.

At the community level, the competition will fish out the 60 best English and Twi readers.

Organisers of the competition today will be in Tanoso and then visit Nyankyerenease on April 1 to seek winners.

The competition rides on three different stages beginning with the Community Stage which is ongoing and has over 4,000 students battling it out to the Kick-Out Stage which has only 60 slots and then the Final stage.
