Residents Of Apire Stage Demonstration Over Bad Roads

Residents of Apire in the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly have hit the streets of the town to express their utter displeasure to the Government of Ghana concerning a ‘death-trap’ road in their vicinity.

The youth and aged embarked on the demonstration on Tuesday morning to display how they are risking their lives on the road.

Though the Government of Ghana has declared the year 2020 as ‘Year of Roads’ to work on roads to safeguard human lives, residents of Apire are yet to appreciate some.

According to the demonstrators, the road has turned non-motorable which is affecting their daily routines.

In an interview with some demonstrators by Opemsuo FM reporter, Akua Owusuaa, they revealed how the Government has turned blind eyes to their plight.

“Our lives are in danger and in we can’t to suffer from bad roads. The road has turned death trap which is a treat to human lives. If the Government fails to fix the road, we will vote against them.”

They continued, “We are yet to see the handiwork of the Member of Parliament and looks as though we don’t even have a lawmaker who can lobby for the Government to fix the road. In fact enough is enough”.

Some demonstrators held placards with inscriptions which read, “Enough is Enough, Yabr3, Skirt and Blouse, Fix Apire road now, We are dying,” amongst others.

They are anticipating that their protests will move the authorities to fix their road to put an end to their misery.
