Prez Akufo-Addo Pays Courtesy Call On Asantehene

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, has paid a courtesy call on Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace.

The President’s visit to the overlord of Ashanti Kingdom forms part of his three-day working tour in the Ashanti Region to inspect various developmental projects initiated under his watch.

At a very colourful ceremony, President Akufo-Addo disclosed the rationale behind his visit.
“My visit here forms part of my resolve to tour the whole country annually to inspect various projects ongoing and ones that have been completed. Nonetheless, today’s occasion is special because we are nearing elections and it will be needful to lit many projects undertaken in the Ashanti Region in my administration to seek for re-election.”

He continued “I came here before the 2016 general election to seek for your blessings and thank God, I won overwhelmingly. This year’s election will be different from the previous one because the good citizens of this country will now assess what I’ve been able to achieve out of my promises after given me the nod to lead them.”

The President reckoned that Ashanti Region has appreciated monumental projects in his administration.
“Through my Government, Ashanti Region alone, we have initiated 1824 projects. We have been able to complete 774 whilst 1,050 are currently ongoing. In education alone, we have undertaken 604 projects, Health (92), Roads (151), Water and Sanitation (606) and others.”

The Commander-in-Chief of Ghana Armed Forces concluded by appreciating the outstanding influence of Otumfuo in the fight to combat deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
“To end my speech, I’ve to thank you and the rest of our traditional leaders for your great conspicuous contributions in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic since its outbreak in the country. Though the number of infected persons have dropped, I will still urge you to continue the good work to finish the fight successfully.”

Addressing President Akufo-Addo at Manhyia on Monday, 28th September 2020, after the President paid a courtesy call on the highly revered head of Ashanti monarchy, the Asantehene urged him to continue his good work to assuage Ghanaians from hardship and assures that he will continue to pray for the President.
“I testified about your good works when you came here before 2016 elections, indeed your good works will speak for you. I know the good works you have done will continuously glow in their memory, and they will remember it.”

“I pray for God’s blessings, and will always pray that everything you do will be successful. Let your Ministers and other people trumpet your achievements thus far,” the Asantehene added.

The delegation that visited the repository of tradition in Ghana included Chief of Staff, Akosua Fremah Osei-Opare, Deputy Chief of Staff, Asenso-Boakye, Yaw Osafo Marfo (Senior Minister), Alan Kyeremateng (Trade Minister), Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh ( Education Minister) Justin Kodua (YEA), Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu (Majority Leader and Parliamentary Affairs Minister), Bernard Antwi Bosiako ( NPP Chairman, Ashanti Region), Simon Osei Mensah (Ashanti Regional Minister), Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Prof. Dr. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng and others.
