President Reinstates Restrictions



The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has reinstated restriction on mass gatherings both in private and public places following the transmission of the UK variants in the country as studies have shown.

In a televised address, the president said, “until further notice, funerals, weddings, concerts, theatrical performance and parties are banned.

“Private burials with not more than 25 people can take place with the enforcement of the social distancing hygiene and mask wearing protocols.

“Beaches, night clubs, cinemas and pubs continue to be shut.”

“Our borders by land and sea remain closed. All work places, public and private must employ a shift system for workers in addition to the use of virtual platforms for business or work. “

“Restaurants should provide takeaway services. As much as possible, avoid seating services.

“National Sports authority and the Ghana Football Association(GFA) should ensure compliance with the 25% capacity rule in our stadia with spectators respecting the social distancing rule and the wearing of mask.”

“To the revered leaders of our religious organizations of our churches and mosques, I entreat you to enforce to the latter with protocols relating to attendance, that is the two hours duration, social distancing, mask wearing, use of sanitizers and the presence of Veronica buckets, liquid soap and rolls of tissue papers.”

He also said regulatory bodies and the security agencies will make random checks to ensure conformity to the protocols.
