Nkoranza Chieftancy Disputes: Youth Rise Against Self-Acclaimed Chief

The Youth of Nkoranza in the Bono East region yesterday prevented self-aclaimed Chief, Kwaku Soroh, from entering the Omanhene Palace.

According to the agitated youth, Nkoranza is yet to settle on any of the royals so nobody can claim to be the ‘Omanhene’ of the area and function as such.

Nkoranza has been in the news over three years due to Chieftancy dispute which is yet to be settled.

However, self-aclaimed Chief, Kwaku Soroh yesterday stormed Nkoranza with fully armed Police and Military men with the aim of entering the Palace to take charge over the place.

The Queenmother of Nkoranza, Nana Yaa Dudaa Kani II, has emphasised that the Citizens of Nkoranza had not yet enstooled any substantive Paramount Chief, and that anybody who carries himself and function as such is an imposter.

Speaking on Opemsuo 104.7 FM morning show, Nkwantananso with George Opoku Mensah, the spokesman of the Queenmother, Baffour Kwaku Sarkodie said, ” it is true that the youth prevented the self-aclaimed Chief, Kwaku Soroh who yesterday stormed the area with fully armed Police and Military men with the intention of taking control over the Palace.”

He reckoned that Kwaku Soroh is not the legitimate Chief of Nkoranza and they will continue to resist any move from him.

“The only person we are going to accept as the Chief of Nkoranza is who Asantehene will choose for us because he is the overlord of our land. We have confidence in Otumfuo to come to our aid to resolve the issue.”

Pending the court case, Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who is the father of Nkoranza and have the power to enstool a Chief at the area, has tasked his counsel, Obiri Boahen, for an out of court settlement to resolve the issues amicably.
