Gov’t supports farmers in Atwima Kwanwoma with Coconut seedlings

Farmers in the Atwima Kwanwoma District in the Ashanti Region under the government policy of Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) programme have received coconut seedlings from the Local Assembly as part of the government’s efforts to create jobs for the people through farming.
According to the District Chief Executive (DCE), Nana Okyere Tawia Antwi, the presentation of over four hundred seedlings to the farmers aims at supporting the youth in the district to grow more coconut for local and international consumption.
“As we are all aware, President Akufo-Addo since he took office has never forgotten farmers across the country. Today, on behalf of the government, I present this four hundred seedlings to you so that you can also increase coconut plantation in the district”, the DCE stated.
Hon. Nana Okyere Tawia Antwi also revealed government plans to establish Cocoa Processing Factory in the area under the One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) policy because the district is noted to be a cocoa growing area.

Mr. P.K. Anim, the District Agriculture Director, also indicated his readiness to assist the beneficiary farmers grow their seedlings to enable the government to earn more foreign exchange needed for development in the country.
“My humble appeal to farmers is that they should come to us anytime for assistance. Government is paying us because of farmers so our doors are open for them to seek our help”, Mr. P.K. Anim said.
Some of the farmers expressed their appreciation to the government but asked for more financial support to serve as security in future.
“Our gratitude to government and the DCE. But our humble appeal is that farmers in the country will need financial security for ourselves and our family in future when we can no longer work”, they appealed to President Nana Akufo-Addo
