“Dont interfere in our work”- KMA Presiding Member warns

The Presiding Member (PM) of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Hon. Stephen Ofori has laid blame on the doorsteps of politicians and some chiefs in the Metropolis over state of development in the regional capital.
According to the elected Assembly Member for Amakom, KMA as an institution is unable to crack the whip on recalcitrant traders going contrary to the Assembly’s bye-laws due to unseen hands of politicians and some traditional rulers in Kumasi.
“Politicians and chiefs will come to you to rescind major decisions you have taken to benefit the whole people. … this is because the person who has flouted the law is connected to that chief or that politician”, Hon. Stephen Ofori lamented on Opemsuo FM morning show.
This comes after residents in Kumasi have recently raised concerns over how filth have engulfed parts of the city especially the Central Business District ( CBD).
“Assembly Members need clean hand devoid of politics to work and make Kumasi clean and tidy”, the KMA Presiding Member pointed out on “Nkwantananso” morning show hosted by George Opoku Mensah Agudey.
Meanwhile, KMA has vowed to enforce sanitation laws to enable it deal with persons who violate such bye-laws.
Authorities have directed City Guards and environmental health officers from KMA to arrest persons who defy sanitation laws and hand them over for prosecution.
