Breaking: Ashanti Regional Women’s Wing Of National Democratic Congress Stage Mammoth Demonstration Against Electoral Commission

A mammoth demonstration has been staged in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital by the Women’s wing of National Democratic Congress (NDC) today, December 15, 2020.

The demonstration was mainly schemed against the Electoral Commission of Ghana for rigging the 2020 General election to favour the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to the demonstrators, the Electoral Commission of Ghana is in bed with the governing New Patriotic Party hence the conscious decision to rig the elections.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was declared winner in the tightly contested 2020 election.

He polled 6,730, 413 which is 51.59% of the total votes cast nationwide on December 7.

His closest contender, John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) polled 6, 214, 889 which gives him 47.36% of the total votes cast.

Nonetheless, the women’s wing who hit the principal streets of Kumasi and the Ashanti regional office of the Electoral Commission claims that their party won the election and cannot accept the results declared by the EC.

The demonstrators were led by the National Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, Dr. Hannah Bissew.
