Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs Elects Representatives to National House of Chiefs

The Regional House of Chiefs on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, elected its representatives to the National House of Chiefs at a ceremony held at Regional House of Chiefs in Kumasi.

The election was held under the auspices of the occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene and supervised by the Electoral Commission.

After the election, Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs elected Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, Kumawuhene, Barimah Sarfo Tweneboah Kodua, Bompatahene, Nana Effah-Apenteng, Asokoremanhene, Nana Krobea Susubiribi Asante, and Sabronumhene, Dasebre Oguakuro Osei Bediako II.

Addressing the highly attended meeting, Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, who is the President of the House admonished the members not to seek their parochial gains but should always work for the collective interest of the House to pave way for progress.
“You have not been elected to seek for your personal interests or to focus on what will enrich you or because you are handsome. However, you have been elected particularly to seek for the collective interest of the House to serve as a conduit for progress that will springforth transformation in our tradition.”

Asantehene further entreated the members to always report to the House about the happenings of the National House of Chiefs.
“It is expected of you to always give report to the House for our people to be abreast with issues.”
