NDC Promises To Scrap E-levy Upon Assumption Of Power

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has promised to scrap the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-levy) upon the party’s assumption of power to steer the affairs of Ghana, in case the policy is passed by the Akufo-Addo led government.

Addressing the masses during the “Yentua” demonstration, meant to inform the government of the general public’s outrage at the policy, the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia declared the party’s intention.

“In the unlikely event that the E-levy is passed, we will abolish it within the first 100 days we assume power”, Asiedu Nketia said.

He equates the E-levy to a daylight robbery.

“The E-levy is not taxation, it’s daylight robbery. It’s all about taking people’s capital from their pockets”, he said.

Asiedu Nketia noted that his party is not against taxation “but we will not sit and watch the government rob us”, he added.
