National Security Ministry: Journalist Was Arrested For Filming Without Authorisation

The Ministry of National Security has discredited media reports that Free-lance journalist, Sacut Amega-Etegu was unduly arrested at a court premise.

Per the “false circulation”, the National security Ministry explained that the journalist was arrested at a court premises while following up on a case of extortion levelled against some operatives of the Ministry of National Security.

However, the Ministry says the arrest of the Free-lance journalist was under the order of “a High Court for filming and/or videoing the court’s proceedings without authority”.

“It is worth noting that the journalist was remanded by the same court to reappear on 14th March 2022”.

It also urged the populace to disregard the content of the false publication.

Sacut has reportedly remained in detention since Thursday, February 24, 2022.
