Mother of Nhyiraba Menkrabea, Mrs. Maanaa Myers has said the rejection of his Rastafarian son by the Headmistress of the Achimota Senior High School took a psychological toll on her ward
Speaking with host of Nkwantananso show, George Opoku Mensah, she said it took the intervention of a psychologist to restore the boy.
According to her, upon being notified the condition for his admission, her ward could neither sleep nor eat.
” I had been monitoring him, he stayed up throughout the night until 3 am. All he did was to walk to and fro.
“He stood infront of the mirror for about twenty times a day.
“My son normally sleep at ten and he usually eats but he wasn’t anymore. Looking at himself in the mirror that often was unusual because women are the ones who normally do that.
“I realised something wasn’t right so I engaged him and he admitted it bothered him that he had to cut his dreadlocks.
“I thought he was going through depression so I took him to a psychologist”, she recounted.
Two Rastafarians Nhyiraba Menkrabea and Tyrone Iras Marhguy were denied admission into the Achimota Senior High School due to their dreadlocks, however reports by the Daily Graphic say the Ghana Education Service has ordered the Headmistress of the school to admit them.
