My Gov’t will Cut Expenditure by ₵30billion- Bawumia

The 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to cut government expenditure by ₵30 billion when elected President come December 7.

His objective is to leverage on the private sector in the provision of infrastructure and other pressing social amenities in order to successfully achieve the estimated expenditure reduction.

It forms part of his agenda to empower the private sector as he stated that enhanced economic growth can only be achieved through the private sector.

“The Government will perform its role but growth depends on the private sector. As such we will shift expenditure from the government to the private sector. To provide buses for schools, we will contract a private sector to get them for us, we pay in instalments. This will enable us to fund and complete stalled projects. The private sector has the money to fund it while the government doesn’t.”

He continued, “This approach will reduce government expenditure by GHC30 billion. This amount will be used to strengthen the private sector.”

The Vice President said this while addressing the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs on Monday, June 10, 2024, in Kumasi as part of his campaign tour in the Ashanti Region.
