MoE Gives Green Light For Public JHS Pupils To Vacate Tomorrow

The Ministry of Education (MoE) says it has rescinded the decision for all public Basic schools to vacate on December 17.

The new decision comes as a result of public backlash against the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ministry of Education for restraining Junior High School students from vacating until the National Standardised Test (NST) is conducted on December 17.

The decision meant that public school students who were supposed to vacate this week had to wait till next week and then vacate.

This was not taken lightly by teachers and the general public who felt the directive was not appropriate.

The ministry in a recent statement noted that it has directed GES to allow JHS schools to vacate as per their scheduled vacation date.

In a Facebook post, MoE said, “The Ministry of Education has directed GES to allow JHS schools to vacate as per their scheduled vacation date.
Please note and act accordingly.
Thank you.”

The date for vacation was extended due to the NST scheduled for December 17 for all primary 4 pupils.
