Ministry Of Foreign Affairs: Living In Europe Is Not An Option, Join Evacuees
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has sent a warm yet stern message to relatives of Ghanaians living in Ukraine and intending to move to Europe amidst the Russia-Ukraine war.
This follows a report that some Ghanaians are boycotting the evacuation and are planning to get themselves hosted in one of the European countries.
The Ministry stated that staying in Europe shouldn’t be an option for consideration.
At the meeting with the relatives, the Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey said there is the risk of getting arrested in Europe.
“For those of them who think that this is an opportunity for them to enter into Europe, Europe is not safe not because there is war extended to Europe but the immigration services are very alert.”
According to her, the only sure bet is for the Ghanaian nationals to join flights that will convey them home.
“The last thing we want is for a student or any Ghanian entering into a country only to be arrested. At least what the government is doing, which is to offer to bring them back. At least taking some burdens off you so that in the future, when things calm down and life returns to normal, you can send your children back”.
Earlier this morning, seven evacuees touched Ghana.
