Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Advises Ghanaians To Suspend All Travels To Gao Region Of Mali

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana has advised Ghanaians looking forward to travelling to the Gao region of Mali to put it on hold.

This comes in the wake of reports of abductions and the killing of Christian travellers in the northeastern part of Mali.

According to the Ministry, some of the persons abducted and killed are Ghanaians.

By a release, the Ministry also cautioned commercial drivers who ply the Gao stretch from Ghana to suspend all operations in that part of Mali.

“Ghanaians in the Gao region are also advised to leave immediately for their safety and security”, it added.

Meanwhile, persons who are unable to leave, have been advised to minimise their movement and follow precautions based on their judgement.

According to the government of Ghana, it cannot facilitate the deployment of citizens in that region, however, persons who require assistance must contact +22371762020, +23320295768, and +23377807676.
