Madina MP Reportedly Arrested

The Member of Parliament for the Madina constituency, Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu has reportedly been arrested.

The news was broken by the EIB network in a series of tweets.

According to the report, the MP was arrested on Thursday, November 3, 2022, for flouting road traffic regulations.

“The lawmaker, who broke the law, was arrested on 3rd November 2022 after he was seen driving in the middle of the road around the Airport in his vehicle with registration number GB-9776-21 with no regard for law-abiding pedestrians and other road users,” the report said.

His vehicle is in police custody, it said.

The news has not yet been confirmed by the Ghana Police Service.

This will not be the first time a legislator has been arrested by the police for flouting road traffic regulations.

In December 2021, the Nhyiaeso Member of Parliament, Hon. Stephen Amoah was among seven who were arrested for road offences including careless driving, dangerous driving, causing road obstruction, and others.

He was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number GT 7059 – 20 when he was arrested.

In March this year, the MP for Ellembelle constituency, Emmanuel Buah was also arrested with four others for committing a similar offence along the Airport road.

He was subsequently charged with “careless” and “inconsiderate driving”.
