Leave The Players Alone; Otto Addo to Ghanaian Media

Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo has warned Ghanaian media to stay off his squad after putting out an abysmal performance that saw them end the 2025 AFCON qualifying games bottom of Group F.

In his estimation, the players gave out their best on the field and therefore do not deserve to be bastardised for the results. According to him, it was just a bad day for them.

If the media is unwilling to leverage their power to create a positive atmosphere for the players, they should not intoxicate it.

Addo is willing to get cruxified in their place.

“This is normal, the results are not okay. But the players, I really need you to leave them alone, they give their all. But this is football sometimes. You can be better or equal and you don’t play draw. You can be better, you lose. This is football.”

“The media have the power to control the narrative of games, not only by the results. And you have the power to lift somebody up. Even if, let’s say, somebody did something bad, you have the power to write something good so that the guy gets away with everything. And you have also the power to, let’s say, to a good guy, to write him down like, if you go on me, you can do it, you can continue, it’s okay.”

Ghana ended the run with three points from six games.
