Fire has gutted fifteen shops at Tafo Zone 13 in the Tafo municipality of the Ashanti region.

The fire reportedly started at 2 am on Friday, April 8, 2022.

A report filed by Opemsuo radio’s Kwame Adu Gyamfi indicated that all fifteen (15) shops got burnt together with equipment they use for work except a bible.

The area housed shops of spare parts dealers, electricians, “battery doctors”, seamstresses, hairdressers, etc.

“While at home, I received a call that my shop is on fire. About five apprentices had their machine destroyed as well as the owner’s machine, our customers’ fabric, a fridge, and countless items and equipment got destroyed in the fire”, a victim told Kwame Adu Gyamfi.

Another victim counting his losses said, “The equipment we use here is expensive. It costs GHc120,000 but if the government can help us repair it at the cost of GHc60,000 we will be grateful. That is not the only thing we’ve lost, there are about 8 cars of our customers which got burnt. We will have to pay for them”.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

The victims called on the government to come to their aid.
