KUGISS FINAL YEAR STUDENTS GO HOME

Board member of the Kumasi Girls Senior High School, Francis Amoako Asante, has revealed that majority of the third year students in the school have left for their various houses.
According him, the students were given the choice to spend their mid-semester break wherever they pleased after their agitation.
In an interview on Citinews, he noted that 90% of them have already gone home.
“All the form threes who wanted to go have all gone. The instruction was that those who wanted to should go home. We couldn’t force all of them to go. But more than 90% have gone home.”
He also reiterated that none of the students was assaulted by the security personnel.
The students were restricted from going home after the Ghana Health Service suggested that third year students rather stay in school for their mid-semester break as a way of containing the spread of COVID-19.
Following this, some students of KUGISS demonstrated on the night of Monday, 19th July, 2021 and in the process, vandalized veronica buckets and dustbins in the school.
The headmistress of the school was reported to have called in some security personnel into the school to maintain law and order.
At the order of the police, the students were said to have returned to their dormitories according to a statement from the Ashanti regional Police Commander, DCOP Adjem.
However, interviews with some students revealed that some military men stormed their dormitories and allegedly assaulted them physically.
