I’ve Never Stolen Money- Sammy Gyamfi
The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has stated that he has upheld integrity throughout his life and has never pocketed any money that isn’t his.
Reacting to alleged commentary about a video of himself and his wife misconstrued as a recent “lavish” trip and said to be at the “expense” of the NDC, he said his record stands out.
The spokesperson of the country’s biggest opposition party said he has maintained virtue and principle in all financial dealings he’s ever had.
“I have never stolen money. I have never misappropriated money in the short time I have been on earth, I have lived a life of integrity and a life of impact. The record is there for everybody to see at every level that I have lived my life.”
Background
It was reported that Sammy is on a two-week lavish trip to Miami with his wife at the expense of the NDC. Some media outlets reported that he was “blowing” some $42 million from the party’s coffers at Betsy Hotel, a 5-star hotel, located on Miami Beach.
Reacting to the allegations, he said, the video mistakenly shared online was from his honeymoon and not recent as claimed in the publications. Though he said he had been to Miami a couple of times, he denied knowledge of the said hotel.
“I’ve never been to the hotels they talked about. I’ve never heard of them. I’ve never stayed in Miami for two weeks. I’ve been to Miami a couple of times just like many other States in the US. The video they are circulating is one of the videos from my past trips with my wife. I believe in the immediate aftermath of my marriage.”
He further served notice about his determination to sue all pro-NPP news outlets behind the “false” publication and circulation.
“Some of those people behind these write-ups are some hungry foot soldiers, they don’t know me. They have nothing and so if you decide to take action against them, it will be in vain. But there are some people who will be taken on relative to this matter and the issues will be settled in court.
“People like Asaase Radio belonging to Gabby Otchere Darko. ABC News belonging to Gordon Asare. I won’t treat them like I will treat an NPP foot soldier. They will come and explain in court where they saw me in Miami and the party money they claimed I took.”
