I’m No Longer Interested In MoU’s, I Want Action Beyond Talk – Otumfuo To Hungarian President

His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called for action-oriented collaboration between Ghana and Hungary beyond the signing of Memorandum of Understandings and documents in Accra and Budapest.

His Royal Majesty acknowledging the fact that action is needed rather than the mere agreements reached said, the nation’s development is dependent on Hungary’s technology.

“Yes when your deputy speaker visited, I said to him that I’m not interested in all the MoU’s and the talk, bureaucracy, but I wanted action and so we should go beyond the talk and the signing of documents in Accra and Budapest and let us put action to what our people need.

He said this in his open address to the president of Hungary, His Excellency Janos Ader when he visited the Monarch at the Manhyia Palace on Saturday, 15th January 2022.

The Asantehene also called for private sector collaboration in agriculture so as to manage the pressure and challenges facing the sector.

He said in the sector, almost every item including poultry feed etc, is imported and that their assistance will be of great benefit.

“We can seek collaboration with the private sector there, poultry, agriculture, we import poultry feed, virtually we were importing everything that brings pressure on our foreign exchange.

“As much as we have cocoa and gold bringing in the foreign exchange the import takes them away it pushed us to a corner where our economy is a bit tightened so the only way we can do that now is a collaboration and support from your country to militate against the cost of living.”

“We need development far better so we would be dependent on your support, direction, and assistant and that’s exactly what you’ve spoken to us about assuring us that you’re ready to support us develop.”

Commending the president for his initiated water treatment projects in some three regions of Ghana asked that they do well to ensure that the remaining 13 regions also benefit from the project.

“Kumasi and Ashanti and other regions also need the water treatment, I know that three of them started with the private company, Jospong.

“I have 16 regions in Ghana and I need all these water treatments in these regions and as you’ve started with three I’m left with 13 regions and I’ll seek your support so that we can still build all these water treatments in those regions.”
