I Haven’t Been Paid For Six Months-Sammi Awuku Compares Himself To NABCO Trainees

The General Director for the National Lottery Authority, Sammi Awuku has compared his procedural course as the NLA boss to the delayed payment of the trainees of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO).

The national youth leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) revealed that he has not been paid for six months since he ascended the “throne” of the NLA but explained that it was procedural to the course of the position.

“For me, I haven’t been paid in the last six months as the NLA director but the point is that I have hope and the hope is that the President in his letter to me said that the Board in accordance with the Public Service Commission will regularise my appointment. The Board after five months will take you to the Public Services Commission to justify your inclusion”, he chipped in while addressing delay in payment of NABCO trainees allowance.

He premised that there is hope that the allowance will be paid, however, he opined that sacrifices must sometimes be “borne out of the supreme interest of our country”.

He added “I love the government’s approach in the sense that they are not asking them (NABCO trainees) to go away…I will go for this government any day because they give me hope.“

“I share in their (NABCO trainees) concerns, in their pain and the frustrations sometimes but I also do know that they will have a successful end”, he assured in an interview.

The NABCO programme for the first trainees ended in October 2021, however, the personnel were directed to remain at post “while the scheme and the Module Implementation Partners (MIPs) work toward a smooth final transition.

The Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) programme is a government initiative to address graduate unemployment to solve social problems. The focus of the initiative will be solving public service delivery in health, education, agriculture, technology, governance, and driving revenue mobilisation and collection.
