I have never been the sponsor of #FixTheCountry campaign – Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has denied funding the #FixTheCountry protest in Accra.
In a reaction he called the accusation made by communicators from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) that he financed the demonstration with 1.5 million dollars a “total fraud.”
He stressed that, “The communicators lie that I gave them £85,000 for their [#FixTheCountry] exhibit and that I gave them a total of £1.5 million. Absolute false! Those old Machiavellian tactics don’t work any longer”.
At the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs on Tuesday as part of a “much obliged” visit through the area, the 2020 National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer expressed concern over youth unemployment in the country.
He said youth unemployment was a major problem in Africa, citing ongoing riots by young people in Nigeria to illustrate his point.
In response to Ghana’s #FixTheCountry movement, he stated that while the youth involved in the development did not participate in disruptive activities, the government should not overlook their concerns.
