I don’t need Propaganda To Win Elections- Deputy Speaker
Joseph Osei-Owusu, the First Deputy Speaker of the 7th Parliament of the 4th Republic and also the Member of Parliament for Bekwai constituency in the Ghanaian Parliament says he has moved from the stage where propaganda and misinformation are used in other to win political power.
According to the renowned politician, he is not ready to respond to all the misinformation and propaganda being used by his opponents, adding that, the actual work is on the grounds for the people to see.
Bekwai Parliamentary seat is one of the constituencies touted as the hottest Constituency following an independent candidate from the ruling New Patriotic Government.
Nonetheless, Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu is extremely confident that due to his copious work, absolutely nothing is going to jeopardize his victory come the December 7th General elections.
“ I have gone pass the days when propaganda and misinformation are used to win power. I am aware of the independent candidate using radio as a conduit to spew lies, propaganda and misinformation, however, I will not respond to it because the actual work is on the grounds and people at my constituency will judge,” said Hon. Joseph Osei m-Owusu in an exclusive interview with George Opoku Mensah (Agudey) on Opemsuo 104.7 FM morning show, Nkwantannanso.
He added that, “I didn’t need to use any form of tactics to disqualify him since he has not played any active role in the party at the constituency level per the laws and structures of the party. He was mainly disqualified by the laws of the party.”
The shrewd legislator further called for members of the party to allow the structures and laws of the party to work at all times.
“We need to ensure that the party structures are working. According to the party laws at least you have to play an active role for two years, and he lacked that. He mentioned that the first time he was at the Constituency was in 2000 and after that removed his name until March 2019, this, you don’t need foul play to disqualify such a person.”
Hon. Osei-Owusu will be hugely contested by an independent candidate, Kwasi Amofa-Agyeman (Esq) following his disqualification from the electoral process for the parliamentary elections at the party level.
