Hon. Stephen Ofori Laments Over The Delay Of The New KMA Boss Nomination

Presiding member of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Stephen Ofori has indicated that the delay in appointing the new Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Chief Executive Officer is worrying.

According to the Amakom Assemblyman, the delay will definitely affect decision-making and other activities that are supposed to commence.

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly is still waiting for the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to nominate someone for the position.

So far, four people have sailed through the vetting process for the position of KMA Chief Executive. The candidates include the incumbent mayor, Hon. Osei Asibey Antwi, Director of Urban roads, Ing. Nana Atta Poku Agyemang, Samuel Pyne, Ashanti regional Secretary of NPP, Kennedy Kankam former Nhyeaso MP, Randy Collins Owusu Amankwa, former MP Manhyia North, Kwabena Mensah.

Speaking on ‘Nkwantannanso’ morning show on Opemsuo 104.7fm, Hon. Stephen Ofori said, “We are worried that as of now we don’t have a new Chief Executive Officer for KMA because the delay affects progress.”

“Last four years by this time, we had already gotten our new Chief Executive, but that can’t be said today. The situation will stampede the progress in the Metropolitan because Hon. Osei Asibey Antwi who is yet to know his fate cannot initiate any new activity,” he added.

He concluded that they will still wait for the President to do what is required since it is his prerogative.

“We are looking at what the President will do in the coming days since he has the prerogative to decide. Ours is just to approve the name that the President will nominate.”
