GRIDCo Reveals Cause of Thursday Blackout

The Ghana Grid Company Limited says a fault with the Accra Central Achimota Line caused the power interruption in parts of the country on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

According to the Company, the line tripped, affecting generation stations at Aboadze, Kumasi and Tema.

“The Ghana Grid Company LTD. (GRIDCo) wishes to inform the public that the Ghana power System experienced a disturbance which led to interruption of power supply to some consumers in Accra, Western and the Northern parts of the country,” a statement it released on Friday justified.

It said the fault was recorded around 14:41hrs.

In an update, it noted that efforts are underway to have the fault repaired.

“Restoration commenced immediately, and efforts are underway to restore supply to all affected areas.”

Meanwhile, it apologised to customers for the inconveniences.
