GridCo justifies last night’s power outage.

“A communication mast collapsed and fell on the 330kV Aboadzi-Kumasi transmission Line, resulting in the collapse of two adjacent towers’ ‘, a statement from the Ghana Grid Company has said justifying yesterday’s outage.

Parts of Ghana experienced power outages for hours. This followed a similar crisis on Monday evening, and Tuesday morning in some parts of the country.

In their press release yesterday, November 9, they stated, “All generating units at Aboadze enclave and Bui tripped, resulting in a power outage in sections of Accra, the Western, Middle, and Northern parts of the country…At 04:50GMT on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in the process of restoring the remaining BSPs, a second disturbance occurred, resulting in the loss of generating units at Aboadze enclave and Bui. This led to another interruption of electricity supply to several areas of Accra, the Western, Middle, and Northern parts of the country.

According to GridCo, the misfortune took place around 15:40 GMT on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, affecting the National power system.

This might result in load management, they stated further.

Apologizing for the inconvenience caused, Gridco said it is working around the clock to replace the fallen towers.
