Gov’t Inaugurates Technical Universities And Institutions Rehabilitation And Upgrade Project

The government of Ghana has inaugurated its project on the rehabilitation and upgrade of technical universities and institutions across the country.

The inaugural event took place at the Adako Jachie campus of the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) on April 12.

The project was inaugurated by the Minister for Education, Osei Yaw Adutwum.

This comes days after President Akufo-Addo said his government has begun upgrading and equipping Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across the country to make them appealing to an increased number of children.

The upgrade and rehabilitation include construction, rehabilitation, and equipping of laboratories, workshops, additional classrooms, hostels, and administrative offices, the president noted.

In his address at the inaugural ceremony, Minister for Education, Osei Yaw Adutwum said transformation has been made in institutions and universities such as the Ashaiman Technical Institute, Comboni Technical Institute, St. Paul Technical Institute, Cape Coast Technical University, and Cape Coast Technical Institute.

Others are the Takoradi Technical Institute, AMUSTEED, Kumasi Technical Institute, Kumasi Technical University, Sunyani Methodist Technical Institute, Sunyani Technical University, Tamale Technical University, Bolgatanga Technical University, Baku Technical Institute, and St Joseph Technical Institute.

“Other institutions that received equipment only include Asawase Technical Institute, Koforidua Technical University, Accra Technical University, Ho Technical University, Wa Technical University, Dakoba Technical Institute, Bolgatanga Technical Institute, Takoradi Technical Institute ”, he outlined.

Following the successful implementation of the enhancement and upgrading of Technical, and vocational education projects by the Austrian government, an additional amount of €8.3 million has been invested, the Minister said.

It will be recalled that President Akufo-Addo while addressing Parliament on the State of the Nation, hinted that three technical institutes will be upgraded to tertiary status.
