GNAAS KNUST Celebrates 55th Anniversary and Homecoming
The Ghana National Association of Adventist Students (GNAAS) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) celebrated its 55th anniversary and homecoming in style, marking a major milestone in its history on July 20, 2024.
Despite facing challenges such as a lack of a proper church premises, the outgoing President Kofi Oppong Kyekyeku hailed the occasion as a testament to the dedication of past and present students who have contributed to the growth of the church.
During an exclusive interview with Opemsuo Radio’s Adwoa Serwaa Yonkodo, outgoing GNAAS President Kofi Oppong Kyekyeku shed light on the pressing challenges confronting the organization.
He cited the absence of a dedicated church premises as a significant hurdle, severely impacting regular attendance. Kyekyeku disclosed that GNAAS has actively sought assistance from both the government and SDA churches to construct a chapel, a crucial step towards addressing this longstanding issue.
Incoming President Jeftha Akwasi Boamah praised the outgoing executives for their tireless efforts to construct a chapel, a project he vowed to carry forward. He stressed the significance of completing the chapel, citing its vital role in fostering worship and community among church members.
Additionally, he underscored the necessity of creating a comprehensive database to connect alumni, facilitate communication, and provide access to job opportunities. By prioritizing these initiatives, Boamah aims to build on the progress made by his predecessors and propel GNAAS forward.
Pastor Alexander Agyapong, Chaplain of GNAAS KNUST and All GNAAS of the Northern Ghana Union Conference of Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA), extended heartfelt gratitude to past and present students who have actively participated in church activities.
He encouraged university students to embrace their faith, attend church regularly, and support the growth of the gospel. Pastor Agyapong emphasized the importance of personal responsibility and urged the youth to shun violence during the upcoming general elections, promoting peace and tranquility before, during, and after the elections.
