Ghana’s FDA Signs MoU With Rwanda’s
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) of Ghana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) of Rwanda.
The MoU was signed and announced by Ghana’s FDA on June 24, 2022.
This happens a day after the FDA of Ghana joined Rwanda, as a member of Ghana’s delegation to the Country for the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of an mRNA vaccine factory in Kigali.
The MoU was signed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director-General of the FDAs of the two African countries, Mrs Delese Mimi Darko and Prof. Emile Bienvenue respectively.
According to the FDA, the MoU is for collaboration to strengthen the regulatory systems of both countries.
The FDA of Ghana says the Rwandan vaccine plant, when constructed, will produce the COVID-19 (Pfizer) vaccine that will be filled and finished in Accra, Ghana by DEK Vaccines Limited.
Additionally, “FDA Ghana, a maturity level 3 agency will be responsible for the release of the COVID-19 vaccines in Ghana and also offer regulatory support to Rwanda FDA”.
