Ghanaians Shouldn’t Expect Efficient Services From Us Without The Resources – GWCL

The Ghana Water Company Limited proposed 334% to the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) for review and approval. The company has mentioned a number of factors that have influenced its proposal which is mainly in relation to resources and revenue to run its activities.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the GWCL, Mr. Stanley Martey, has admonished Ghanaians to accept to pay the proposed increased tariff to enable the company to render efficient services to the public. Failure to do so will leave the company to be non-resourceful limiting its ability to offer efficient services to the public.

Mr. Martey said, currently there is a high level of demand the company should be able to supply which comes with investment, and will only be possible if Ghanaians accept to pay more.

He then assured the public that, if Ghanaians and PURC approve the proposed 334% increment, will see to the improvement of water supply and easy access to portable water. He stressed that, Ghanaians will see improved water supply between 2026 and 2030 when they are given the needed resources.

Mr. Stanley Martey added that, there have been so many illegal connections in the system and the situation requires the acquisition new service connection system which will do away with the current meter usage. This comes with a cost and Ghanaians and PURC must approve our proposal, he said.
