Ghana Receives 1.7M Pfizer Vaccines from the USA

The United States government has donated 1.7 million doses of Pfizer vaccines to the government of Ghana.

The donation came through the COVAX facility, the vaccines pillar of the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator.

“The Deputy Minister for Health, Hon. Mahama Asei Seini has received 1.7 million doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines donated by the United States Government”, the Ministry of Health announced on Facebook.

The vaccines were handed over to the Deputy Health Minister by the United States Ambassador to Ghana, H. E. Stephanie Sullivan at the Kotoka International Airport.

Eight hundred and forty thousand (840,000) Ghanaians which is 2.7% of the population have been fully vaccinated.

So far, 53.4% of the world population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Ghana is seeking to vaccinate 20million of its total adult population by the end of 2021.
