GES: Opening Date For SHS, Technical School Freshers Remain April 4

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has maintained the date of opening for first-year Senior High and Technical school students on April 4, 2022.

This is despite calls from a section of the general public to extend the date.

In a press statement, the GES said, “Parents, students, teachers, and the general public are to note that the re-opening of SHS/T students remains 4th April 2022 as indicated on their placement forms.”

The statement signed by the Head of Public Relations Unit at Ghana Education Service, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, advised all candidates who did not get placed, to go through the self-placement process and then visit schools they have placed themselves to begin the admission process.

Out of the total number of 571,892 registered BECE candidates, 555,353 candidates qualified to be placed, the GES reported in a statement dated March 25.

It added that 367,811 out of the qualified candidates were automatically placed in one of their choices through the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

The remaining 187,542 qualified candidates were directed to undertake self-placement to select from available schools since they could not be matched to any of their choices.
