Genser Energy Ghana Limited Honoured By Himan Prestea Traditional Council

Genser Energy Ghana Limited (“Genser”), an Independent Power Producing Company, was on Friday the 17th day of December 2021 honoured by the Himan Prestea Traditional Council for its contribution towards the development of the Himan Prestea Community.

Nana Nteboa Pra IV, the Divisional Chief of Himan Prestea stated that “Genser is set to construct a Gas Processing Plant (“GCP”) in Prestea to extract Natural Gas Liquids (“NGLs”) (comprising ethane, propane, and butane) from natural gas or associated gas and market the NGLs in Ghana and abroad”.

He also mentioned that the Company has executed a Community Development Agreement (“CDA”) with the community which addresses issues on local content, employment, local participation, corporate social responsibility among other things.

Nana Nteboa IV disclosed the existence of the CDA at the maiden edition of the Himan Prestea Community Excellence Awards which had the theme “Mobilizing Ourselves for Community Development.” This is an event organized to acknowledge and recognize individual and corporate contributions towards the development of the community.

Accepting the award on behalf of Genser, Onesimos Barimah Osei, the legal and compliance manager of Genser, thanked the Chiefs and the Community for the acknowledgement and pledged the companies continuous support for major projects which will be beneficial to the entire community.

Mr. Osei mentioned that “Genser prides itself with building a continuous relationship with all the communities we engage in, and we look forward to making a greater impact in the future. We would like to thank the Council for their leadership and their vision in establishing the CDA with Genser to ensure all community projects align with the short and long term development goals in Himan Prestea.”

At the same event, Nana Nteboa Prah IV, however, appealed to the Government to assist in the completion of several infrastructure activities including a 20km road from Bogoso to Prestea, construction of a new hospital and completion of the football Astroturf pitch which has been held up since October 2020.

According to the Chief, “the current road is in a deplorable state and needs urgent attention as this affects all socio-economic activities within the community thereby stalling community development.” He appealed to corporate entities as well as individuals with the capacity to do so to help develop the community.

Corporate entities and individuals awarded during the same event include Future Global Resources Limited (FGR), GRIDCO, Prestea Sankofa Gold, Alhaji Suleman, Advisor to the Lands Commissioner, Lt. Col Umar Sanda Ahmed (Rtd), Former Ghana Ambassador to Egypt, Barbara Oteng Gyasi, Former Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and Former Member of Parliament for Prestea-Huni Valley Constituency.
