GAF Denies Selling Millitary Lands
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has denied selling out military lands to private developers.
“We wish to categorically state that no military lands have been sold to a private developer by the Armed Forces…,” it said in a statement.
It further emphasized that inasmuch as military lands are in their custody, they are not bequeathed any authority to dispose such of.
“Where lands being occupied by GAF have been developed, any such development has been done in conjunction with the Ministry of Defence with the approval of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources,” it noted
It was reported that the GAF had sold out military prime lands in Accra, including the residences of the Chief of Defence Staff and that of the Chief of Army Staff to a private developer.
Discrediting the report, the military said it has rather begun processes to redevelop the area to increase the number of residences for senior officers from two to 13.
