Krofrom Market Project Set to Resume, Timelines Yet to be Determined, says Regional Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah, has expressed his concern over the halted Krofrom Market project and provided updates on its status. While no specific timelines were mentioned, he assured the public that efforts are being made to resume the project soon.

Addressing the issue on Nkwantannanso with Agudey on June 8, Hon. Osei-Mensah stated, “The mayor is currently in discussions with relevant stakeholders regarding the source of funds for the project. There have been meetings, although I cannot confirm the exact number of times.”

He further explained that he is actively seeking someone to provide an estimate for the project, emphasizing that the funding does not come from the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).

Previous attempts to secure credit facilities with Fidelity Bank failed because the bank realized that the source of funds for the project was not assured, leading to the discontinuation of its assistance.

Once completed, the new Krofrom market is expected to feature 2,300 stalls, 2,800 shops, and other vital facilities such as a police post and fire station, providing a modern and conducive trading environment for the community.
