First Akwasidae: Massive Economic Boost

As dignitaries and guests filed into the grounds of Manhyia to witness the outstanding Akwasidae festival, an opportunity was up for businesses.

Items ranging from food, drinks, water, traditional cloths, nose masks, and other commodities received high patronage.

Some traders revealed they had made higher sales compared to other days. According to them, occasions such as Akwasidae boost their businesses.

One trader said “I always make sales but it’s different today. As today marks Akwasidae festival, I have made a lot of sales. All my nose masks are finished, I’ve now ordered for some.”

Maame Nyarko, a woman who sells cloth said,” today I’ve sold ten cloths. By the grace of God business is booming. During ordinary days, I’m able to sell two or three cloths.”

Adwoa Konadu, a khebab vendor also said “compared to other days, today is better.”

Yesterday marks the first Akwasidae in the year 2021 and was attended by dignitaries including the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and his entourage.
