Fire Guts Dadiesoaba Nursing and Midwifery Training School

Fire has gutted the Dadiesoaba Nursing and Midwifery Training School in the Ahafo Region.

The fire that reportedly started in the afternoon razed down the whole building on September 3, 2022.

According to the Coordinator of the Ahafo National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Collins Osei Bonsu, all the belongings of the trainees were destroyed in the fire.

In an interview with GBC, he disclosed that firefighters failed to respond quickly to the urgent call.

“We called the Ghana Fire Service, but when they got there, everything was down. It took a while for the officers to get to the scene.”

He noted that the fire could have resulted from the weak electrical system of the school.

“Most schools were established just after independence, so the electrical wiring systems are well over 25 years old. We advise that after every 25 years, the electrical systems must be done again”, the NADMO official said.
