Ex-President Mahama Introduces Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang to Asantehene

The Presidential Candidate for National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Former President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, has paid a courtesy call on the overlord of Ashanti Kingdom, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at Manhyia Palace to introduce his running-mate.

The visit to the revered King of Asante Kingdom forms part of the 2020 agenda of the Presidential Candidate for National Democratic Congress to formerly introduce his running-mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang.

The opposition National Democratic Congress flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama on July 6, 2020, settled on astute veteran educationist and politician as his running-mate for 2020 elections.

Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang born on 22 November, 1951 in Cape Coast, Ghana, was a former Minister for Education in Ghana. She was appointed in 2013 by President John Mahama after the 2012 Ghanaian general elections and served until January 2017 when the Nana Akuffo-Addo administration was elected to power.

At the short gathering at Manhyia Palace, Ex-President Mahama informed His Majesty about the purpose of his visit.
“We came here to officially introduce to you my running-mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang ahead of the 2020 general elections. She’s humbled yet firm and a disciplinarian, and with her, we can do more for Ghana.”

Otumfuo Asantehene in his remarks, advised the Opposition NDC flagbearer to avoid politics of insult to ensure peaceful elections and also learn from the mistakes he committed during his reign.
“Learn from the mistakes you committed during your reign as President of Ghana. Go and tell Ghanaians that you are coming to right the wrongs to win their trust.”

“What I expect both NPP and NDC to do is to do away with politics of insults to ensure peaceful elections.”

The members who visited Otumfuo Osei Tutu II included Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, Running-mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, General Secretary, Asiedu Nketiah, Samule Ofosu Ampofo (National Chairman), Betty Mould Iddrisu, Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwah, Former Kumasi Mayor, Kwadwo Bonsu, Campaign Manager, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Former Regional Minister Samuel Sarpong, and others.
