The Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education (MOE), Mr. Akwasi Kwarteng has stated that it is a normal thing for employees to have qualms with employers as far as salaries, allowances, working conditions, and remunerations are concerned.

His statement was made in relation to the nationwide strike by the four teacher unions consisting of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT), and the Teachers and Education Workers Union (TEWU).
Their strike action took effect on Monday 4th July 2022 demanding what they call Cost-Of-Living-Allowance (COLA).
Mr. Akwasi Kwarteng who is the Spokesperson for the Education Ministry admittedly explained that, the cost of living in recent times indeed has seen a sharp rise and is very expensive due to the recent global economic crisis which has not spurred the country.
He disclosed that the Education Ministry is working around the clock to get the grievances of the teachers resolved to avert any impending consequences on the education sector and the pupils who are the most vulnerable in such situations.
Speaking in an interview with the media, he urged parents to remain relevant stakeholders as authorities take steps to deal with the situation.
