Ellembelle Missing Excavators: 1 Retrieved; DCE, 3 Others Arrested

The Ghana Police Service has announced it has retrieved one of the excavators which were reported missing from the Ellembelle District Assembly.

The excavator was found by the police on September 6, 2022, in a forest within the Ellembelle District through an intelligence operation, the police said.

The development led to the arrest of four persons including the Ellembele District Chief Executive (DCE), Kwasi Bonzo.

The police report that “While the team of police officers were escorting the excavator to Takoradi, at the Axim Junction, the DCE of Ellembelle, Mr Kwasi Bonzo organised and led some thugs to attack the police and obstruct the operation. The DCE and three others were therefore arrested accordingly.”

The police are now on the quest to find the other excavator.

The DCE had earlier alleged that the two excavators went missing while in the custody of the Ellembelle police.

This, was disputed by the police with the indication that the DCE and two others were under investigation over the issues surrounding the excavators.
