Dr Richard Anane: Bawumia Is A Good Friend

One time Minister for Roads and Highways and also Health during the Kuffour administration, Dr. Richard Anane, has debunked claims that he has endorsed Dr. Bawumia as Presidential candidate for the 2024 election.
In an interview on Nkwantananso show on Opemsuo Radio, Dr. Anane admitted he has an age long ties with the current Vice President whom many look forward as Presidential Candidate in the next General Election.
According to him, he found his name on the headlines, days after he met Dr. Bawumia at a funeral ceremony and interacted with him as the friend he is.
“I have not vouched my support for anyone as flag bearer. I remember attending a funeral and meeting Dr. Bawumia, he is a very good friend even before he became the Vice President. I went close and exchanged pleasantries with him. Days later, someone sent me a message that I had endorsed him”, he recounted.
Debunking the claim in an earlier statement, Dr. Anane said “There are a lot of qualified patriots to succeed the President. The Vice President is doing a good job in his designated role. So are others, including Alan Kyerematen, a party stalwart, whom I have worked with since 1992 and is doing remarkably well as our Trade Minister. However, I am of a strong belief that we need to give our President time and space to govern and that, we must all be guided by the past.”
The stalwart of the New Patriotic Party further indicated that the ambition of the NPP to break the 8 is not dependent on who leads in the 2024 election but the work done now.
“Dr Anane can lead the NPP to break the 8. It is not a matter of who, let us work and after that Ghanaians will know who to choose”, he told George Opoku Mensah.
