Dr. Bawumia To Launch E-Pharmacy Today

The vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will launch the electronic pharmacy initiative today, Wednesday, 22, 2021.

The event will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre at exactly 9:00 am.

The Vice president announced the intention to make prescribed medicines easily accessible to the general public during an interaction at Ashesi University on the theme “Transforming the economy through digitization”

According to him, the introduction of the electronic pharmacy will aid in identifying medicines in their location of availability as well as their prices and also help deal with the issues of drug abuse.

He said working with the Pharmacy Council in collaboration with the private sector, we have completed work on a digital platform for all pharmacies in Ghana. It will offer an opportunity for anyone using a mobile phone, upload his/her prescriptions and find out which pharmacy near you has the medicine as well as compare the prices and get it delivered to your home.

He added that “It will help deal with drug abuse. Prescriptions will no longer be papered but through a one-time code via SMS.”
