Davido Donates $299K To Orphanages
Nigerian singer David Adeleke, known by the stage name Davido says his foundation, the David Adeleke Foundation (DAF) has disbursed an amount of N237,000,000, an approximate $299,616.95, to over four hundred orphanages in Nigeria.
In a statement, he said the amount will benefit 13,818 orphans in the country.
According to him, the amount was raised from soliciting contributions from benevolent Nigerians since October 2022.
“Thanks to the generous contribution from individuals and corporations, across various sectors and regions, the DAF was able to raise the substantial donation sum of N237 million.”
Ahead of his birthday in 2021, the Nigerian star released an account number and asked fans to show him love by contributing some money. In less than six hours, it was reported that he had received over a 100million naira. He later announced the proceeds had been donated to orphanages.
According to him, the impact of this donation fueled his desire to start a foundation to help the underprivileged.
“Seeing the impact and success of the previous donations particularly in 2021, after my birthday left a mark on my heart and reading the numerous letters and messages from everyone who received this donation reaffirmed my commitment to continually assist the less privilege in any capacity.”
His foundation was therefore birthed in 2022.
