COVID-19 Vaccines Expiring – Central Regional Health Director Cries
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines in stock are about to expire, according to the Central Regional Health Directorate, because inhabitants in the Central Region have ceased taking them.
Residents in the region are hesitant to take the vaccination, according to the Directorate, after the government lifted restrictions on the pandemic in the country.
Dr. Akosua Agyeiwa Owusu Sarpong, the Central Regional Health Director, told the media during a press conference that barely half of the individuals in the region had received a single dose of the vaccines.
He went on to say that 32 percent had received two doses and 4% had received boosters.
The Health Director further stated that just 300,000 of the region’s approximately one million immunizations have been administered, despite the fact that the goal was to immunize 700,000.
She went on to say that patronage has been extremely low compared to when the limitations were in place.
Madam Owusu Sarpong urged citizens in the Central Region to be vaccinated, noting that vaccines are accessible at all of the region’s health centers.
Background
President Akufo-Addo in March announced sea and land borders that were shut in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak will be opened.
The President also announced that fully vaccinated travelers will be allowed entry into the country without a negative PRC test at the Kotoka International Airport.
President Akufo-Addo also stated that wearing of facemask is no more mandatory in the country.
