Coach Abdul Mumin Says RTU-Hearts Results Deserving

The head coach of Real Tamale United (RTU), Abdul Mumin Abdulai, says his side’s 3-0 defeat to Hearts of Oak was a well-deserved one as their preparations fell short of expectations.

Addressing the press after the game, he said his team trained only three days before the game and therefore a favourable result was not anticipated.

“I think that in terms of preparation, we are not there. We just started three days into the game so definitely we will get these results…When you are not physically fit, you don’t expect any result apart from this one,” the visibly frustrated coach said.

Their loss to Hearts leave them buttom with 17 points after 18 games and the coach says they will review the game for onward corrections.

“We will go back and review what has happened and see our way clear.”

The team will next face Bofoakwa Tano on March 3.

RTU have been struggling to find their feet this season and risks being relegated. The club, aside from struggling to pay players for several months now, are faced with challenges including a three-game home ban and a Gh₵10,000 fine by the regulatory body of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after misconduct during a match against Medeama SC in the first round.
