CLOGSAG Declares Strike
The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has declared an industrial action effective, July 3, 2024.
Their action comes in the wake of the government’s failure to implement their new salary structure more than a year after it was approved by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
Ahead of their strike, the Association said notices were served on the National Labour Commission (NLC); however, a response is yet to be received.
In a notice to their members on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the CLOGSAG asked members to stay away from work from Wednesday.
“In consonance with our letter number BA/15/VOL2 dated 21st June 2024 indicating our intention to proceed on nationwide strike if the new salary structure for staff of Civil Service and Local Government Service is not implemented, we hereby declare a nationwide strike with effect from 3rd July 2024.”
It directed, “All staff of Civil Service and Local Government Services should stay away from work until further notice.”
In addition to that, the Executive Secretary of the group, Isaac Bampoe Addo directed that all CLOGSAG offices and secretariats remain shut in the course of their industrial action.
This, he instructed, in the notice distributed to Regional Secretaries, District Secretaries and Departments of CLOGSAG.
