CHANGES IN POLICE HIERARCHY

The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, has made changes at the top hierarchy of the Police Administration, with two women officers elevated to higher positions.
The Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mrs Habiba Twumasi Sarpong, has been elevated to the position of Director-General in charge of Welfare, while the Head of the Commercial Crimes Unit at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mrs Faustina Agyeiwaa Andoh-Kwofie, has been made the Director-General in charge of Intelligence.
Other appointments
The Director-General, Welfare, COP Mrs Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquah, is now the Head of the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB), formerly PIPS, while the Director-General of the Police Intelligence Department, COP Mr Edward Tabiri, proceeds to head the Planning & ICT Directorate, which fights crimes and other sophisticated crimes.
The second highest police commissioner, who is the Director-General in Charge of Special Duties, COP Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has been appointed the Director-General, Administration, the position occupied by Dr Dampare before his elevation as the acting IGP.
DCOP Mohammed Suraji has been named the Director-General of Police Operations.
 
Others
The Director-General of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), COP Mr Frederick Adu Anim, is now Director-General, Human Resource, while the Director of Operations at the Accra Regional Police Command, ACP Mr Kwasi Ofori, has been elevated to the position of Director-General, Public Affairs.
COP Mr Vincent Redeemer Dedjoe, who moved from the Western Region last year to head the PPSB, has now been reassigned as the Director-General in charge of Special Duties.
Those who have maintained their positions include the Director-General of Legal and Prosecutions, COP Mr Nathan Kofi Boakye; the Director-General, CID, COP Mr Isaac Ken Yeboah, and the Director-General, Private Security Organisations, COP Mr Alphonse Adu-Amankwah.
 
Regional commanders
The Accra Regional Commander, DCOP Mr Afful Boakye Yiadom, is heading to the Ashanti Region as Regional Commander. He will be replaced by the Head of the Police Marine Unit, DCOP Seidu Iddi.
Additionally, the Head of Education, Research and Training at the MTTD, Superintendent Alexander Obeng, has been moved to the Public Affairs Directorate as the Director.
The current Director of the Public Affairs Directorate, Superintendent Mrs Sheila Abayie Buckman, will proceed on a study leave.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the CID, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Juliana Obeng, has been moved to the Accra Regional Police Command as PRO.
